Irish Jack Facts
History...
There are two varieties of the Jack Russell Terrier. There is the Parson Russell Terrier, also known as the typical American Jack Russell which is bred for its hunting ability and tends to be over active and hyper. The other variety is the Old Fashioned type Jack Russell Terrier which originates in Ireland and England. The old style Jack Russell is often referred to as English, Irish Jacks, shortie, puddin, or miniature Jack Russell. They are smaller and more stocky than the Parson Russell Terrier. They were originally bred to be barn companions and to keep the rodent populations down at horse farms all across Europe.
The European Jack Russell has a more docile nature and much less of a hunting drive than the Parson Russell Terrier. Our dogs are bred for temperament and substance, not for hunting ability. They are a playful charming breed, but after a long walk are very content to curl up on the couch or in the bed. The Old Fashioned Jack Russell is often described as a study, intelligent, and a well mannered terrier.
Our Jack Russells...
Our Jack Russells are first and foremost family members. They live in our home with children, cats, birds and a variety of other dogs. They are wonderful off leash and can frequently be found following us around the farm or while we are riding the horses through the trails. They also love swimming, beach walks, agility and frequent trips to the local pet store!
Our Puppies...
Our puppies are bred for temperament and health. They are raised in our home and get a great deal of individual attention. They are well socialized with children, cats, and other dogs from the moment they are born. We test each puppy's temperament and they all come with a health and temperament guarantee.
All puppies have different personalities. We can help you choose the right puppy for your lifestyle with some basic information.
It is a big commitment to purchase a puppy and we want you to make the right decision for you, your family and the puppy. We are there for any and all questions you have about your puppy for his or her life.
We breed our dogs to meet the English Jack Russell Terrier Alliance standard.
Our Jack Russells are much shorter and slightly longer with more substance than the Parson or American Jack Russell Terrier.

What to Look for in a Reputable Breeder
Please be aware that there are a select number of reputable shortie Jack Russell Terrier breeders. There are many "breeders" that import unregistered, unhealthy puppies (sometimes mutts) and sell them as Jack Russell Terriers from Ireland.
Before you purchase a puppy be sure to meet the parents of the litter and ask many questions of the breeders. If the puppies are imported, you should get multiple pictures of the parents and a pedigree or IKC registration papers. Also note that it is illegal to import puppies from Ireland before the age of 10 weeks.
Lastly, all puppies should always come with a (lifetime) health and temperament guarantee.
